Thank you, friends. (This is a Thursday Throwback post to thank my friends who completed the 60 mile walk in my honor.)

Thank You, Friends!

Today I thank my friends who sacrificed to walk in the 3-Day, 60 mile walk. Thank you to Starner’s AP’s and to Laura’s Ladies.

Starner’s AP’s was a team of assistant principals, friends who came together to walk in the Susan G. Komen  3-Day walk. This amazing group came together shortly after I was diagnosed with Stage 3a, Grade III, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.  They trained for 9 months along with Laura’s Ladies.

Laura’s Ladies was the group from my elementary school who walked in the 3-Day.  I was the assistant principal at the school when I was diagnosed.  All of these ladies were supportive throughout my journey. So today, I’m thanking them by posting a picture tribute.

  • 2015 held many firsts...  My goal, not resolution, was very basic. My goal was to be healthy: body, mind and soul.
  • Body…I have been eating clean since July 1, 2014.  I have room for improvement in this area.  I walked my first 5K, Race For A Cure, January 2015.  I walked for all who are fighting breast cancer.  I walked to celebrate all survivors and to remember those who lost their battle to this horrible disease. It was  the first time that I will be recognized as a survivor.

I was so excited to participate in this 5K. I was brave enough to be recognized as a survivor.  These were big steps for me.
